Making History at Webber

09 September 2014

Pre-Prep children at The Webber Independent School brought history to life by dressing as characters from a bygone age. Costumes representing heritage, history, war time, wealth, poverty and culture were amongst the array of outfits selected by the young historians – which covered a vast era and included Christopher Columbus, Ann Boleyn, Black Beard, Marie Curie and Charles Dickens to name a few.

Children presented in front of their classmates to share the additional research they had put into their chosen subject and explain why they had chosen to ‘be that person for a day.’

Principal Sue Vig said; ‘It’s so important to find fun and engaging methods to help bring our children’s learning to life and deliver innovative and inspiring methods of teaching. The children were totally absorbed in the moment as they delivered their findings on inspirational characters from the past and listened with intent to their peers. Everyone looked spectacular in their chosen costumes – a truly diverse mixture which made for a very interesting and insightful day at school.’
