A string duo from The Webber Independent School secured first place for their performance of a Duet in D by Mozart in the String Duets – any age class at the Bedfordshire Festival of Music, Speech and Drama (7th – 14th March 2015).
Alex Postawa and Honami Inoue demonstrated their impressive talents and were delighted to be suitably crowned winners of the R.Rose and Co Trophy, receiving some excellent comments from the judges who praised their confidence and technique. They will now get to retain the trophy for 12 months until next year’s festival when the title will be up for grabs again.
Founded in 1921 the festival provides a showcase for the wealth of talent in the amateur performing arts field and features categories for school groups, orchestras, wind bands, junior and senior choirs and group creative performance.
Principal Sue Vig said, “Congratulations to Honami and Alex – we are delighted their talents and endeavours to learn a musical instrument have been suitably recognised and rewarded. Regional festivals are a wonderful way for children across the area to experience competing with others and help build their confidence to share their creative abilities with others. Performing in front of an audience takes courage and tenacity - very well done to Alex and Honami.
